ALGAE
GUIDE

We like to teach that if you focus on keeping your plants happy, they will take care of the algae. However, things don't always go as planned. This guide will help you identify the root cause of your algae so it stays gone for good!

OUR APPROACH

IDENTIFY

There are a lot of different algae out there, and some can be hard to decipher.  This algae guide will allow you to select the color, look, and choose from images to help you pinpoint what algae you have! There is no way for you to treat an algae that you can not identify.

TREAT

Treating with manual removal or killing an algae is only half the battle. There are many different ways to get to the same place, but we'll give you a list of treatment options that makes sense for you, and your tank. Some are more aggressive, and some are more passive.

PREVENT

"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Don't just treat the symptom, address the cause. Simply killing the algae will not prevent it from coming back. Most root causes require us to make changes within our aquarium and we'll teach you what adjustments to make to prevent algae from coming back
